success.

I am thrilled to report that Friday when I weighed in at my T.O.P.S. Group, that's Take Off Pound Sensibly I was down another 2.4 pounds. Now I'm not on accountability about weight but about exercise. However, the two are closely entertwined.  Since January 2013 I have now removed a total of 74 pounds. I was tempted to bump the number one more pound to make it appear more impressive (LOL) but 74 is impressive enough standing alone!!!

I am happy that not only am I doing my Pilates 100's daily (sometimes twice daily), I've increased my natural activity by walking farther each day. Every step counts!

I've added arm workouts with five pound weights. That's not a big amount but all I'm attempting to do is add some tone to my arms & allowing the loose skin to catch up.  I'm 66 so I don't have as much elasticity as I did when I lost weight before but even if I have wrinkles, sags & bags, it's better than lugging around all the excess baggage I'd been carrying.

I am thankful for seeing the efforts on this journey to give me the satisfaction of feeling successful.

I will send photos to show you when I reach my goal.  I can already see me accepting a Crown to be T.O.P.S. Royalty next year as my reward for my accomplishment.

Time Flew or Stood Still

I had written this in 2006 & was reminded of it by My Name is Not Bob's poem: Progress

Time Flew or Stood Still - Breaking the Time Barrier
Compressed
Eclipsed
Juxtaposed
Telescoped
Three events occurred in one moment.

I saw with different eyes the same event separated by twenty-five year intervals.

I am a child of eight facing eye surgery.  The needle used to numb the surface appears three inches long as it approaches my right eye.  The dread of the injection freezes me in fear.

I am a young mother with a wounded son.  A neighbor child stuck him in the eye with a stick.

The Opthamologist said:  "Corneal laceration is so severe he may lose his right eye."  My requests for prayers flew across the nation.  A week later the bandages were removed.  The doctor declared: "It's a miracle.  There's no evidence of the laceration."

I am a grandmother holding my five year old grandson as my now adult son clears his son's eye of debris from a fall.

Echoes cross the time barrier.  "Open your eye.  Don't rub your eye."  Ice packs and patches pending.

Time and vision blurred into clarity.

Journal begins May 2011

Give thanks for the new you that is coming forward little by little.  Anticipate your new capacities which are growing even now.

Take time to celebrate how far you have come and that you are continuing to grow forward.

Day 1 the rest of my life
Happy cinco de Mayo 2011

“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.”

Goals

get off couch with rocking to do it
get into truck without gasping for breath
not worrying about chairs with arms & whether I'll fit or being sturdy enough to hold my weight
walking without canes &  without gasping for breath
liking my reflection in the mirror or images in photographs
feeling good wearing clothes that fit comfortably

more added later just started these at 4:44 am.

Day 2 5-6-11

Exercised on bike & dancing one long song each + ledge pushups. Couldn't sleep from pain! Got to be gentler with my body cause I do like walking. Also like being able to sleep without aching. Elbows & knees STILL hurt. May try pool later. OK with scripts, food & water both days.

5-12-11 thursday

I've been making good choices for the last week but am battling hunger during the night. I had an Unjury Protein shake mixed with mandarin oranges at 2 & at 5 with powerade zero.

Laundry in machine & the rest in laundry room. Garbage collected & kitchen straightened cause cleaning lady  is coming.

We're going out to dinner tonight with friends & I will be aware that Friday am is TOPS Take Off Pounds Sensibly weigh in. Meeting them at BBQ Steak house for steak, salad & potato at 4:30.

White load in dryer.

Robe & rugs done. Butt crunches.

Horse radish disquised as sour cream kept me from eating baked potato. A 'duh' move. Had not seen twiced baked as an option nor could I get green salad but ate only small amount of coleslaw & 1 sweet potato fry. A successful choices dine out experience. Yay!

5-13-11 Friday

Everything hurts. Had clam chowder with saltines about 1 am. Schedule totally reversed. Slept in until 9 so no meeting but weighed 380 only 5#'s up from last TOPS weigh in. 3 bacon & 2 eggs for breakfast. I do appreciate all Hubby does. BBQ marinated chicken for lunch & chinese takeout for dinner. Left most of my soup. Woke up sweating at 10 of three & took pm pills.

5-14-11 Saturday

Set up all pills for month minus HCTZ & lisinopril 20mg. Put 10 mg in each am pill. See doctor in June for new scripts.

Had Atkins shake, 2 egg cheese omelette with salsa, 3 sausages, toast with Promise & no sugar added orange marmalade, cold soup from last night, sf pudding, salad, bread, turkey sandwich...ate 1/2 early other 1/2 later. Too many carbs but still good choices.
